Schindler would have been an easier man to understand if he’d been a conventional hero, fighting for his beliefs. The fact that he was flawed – a drinker, a gambler, a womanizer, driven by greed and a lust for high living – makes his life an enigma. He was a man who saw his chance at the beginning of World War II and moved to Nazi-occupied Poland to open a factory and employ Jews at starvation wages. His goal was to become a millionaire. By the end of the war, he had risked his life, spent his entire fortune to save those Jews and had defrauded the Nazis for months with a munitions factory that never produced a single usable shell.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower is a coming-of-age, comedy-drama directed and written by Stephen Chbosky and based on his own epistolary novel from 1999 of the same title. It is a privilege only few people enjoy. And it’s not often when a book to movie adaptation is as good as the book itself, if not better.
The movie revolves around an introverted high school freshman, Charlie, who also has some mental issues and writes letters to an unnamed “Dear Friend” chronicling his life. He enters high school tremulously, scared and alone after his eight grade friend Michael apparently committed suicide. The story is about how he grew and was able to “feel infinite”.

If watching vehicle chase sequences, cars being blown up in the air and muscled goons is your film genre of choice, then you would know that we could be talking about Rohit Shetty of the ‘Golmaal’ series fame. This time Rohit Shetty, one of the heavily critiqued filmmakers of the current times for his directorial ways, has come up with Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer ‘Chennai Express’. Quite obviously, this unique combo of Shetty and Khan is enough to make one curious about their product. But once you go for it, you won’t regret watching ‘Chennai Express’, as you would have been after watching ‘Golmaal 2’ and ‘Golmaal 3’.

The World’s End, the final installment in Edgar Wright’s “Cornetto Trilogy” follows a group of childhood friends who return to their hometown, Newton Haven, in order to finish a twelve stop pub crawl, dubbed the Golden Mile, they failed to complete back in 1990. In the intervening time, Oliver (Martin Freeman), Peter (Eddie Marsan), Steven (Paddy Considine) and Andrew (Nick Frost) have all grown up – starting families and/or working in steady (albeit unexciting) professions. However, former group kingpin, Gary (Simon Pegg), has spent the last two decades drinking, philandering, and bouncing from one job to the next – falling very short of the lofty ambitions that he once possessed.

The Bourne Trilogy is one of my favourite movie series of all time. It started with The Bourne Identity, which was a great action spy story with a fantastic hook. The Bourne Supremacy brought in director Paul Greengrass, whose handheld shaky-cam style has come to define many action films for good or ill ever since. Greengrass came back […]
